Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, inaugurated a newly constructed Road Under Bridge (RUB) in Bengaluru on Saturday. The RUB, built at a cost of ₹8.84 crore, replaces Level Crossing Gate No. 16 at Ramohalli Gate and aims to improve connectivity and safety for both road users and train operations.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by SuShobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Somanna said that the new RUB fulfills a long-pending demand of the local people and enhances connectivity to important places around Bengaluru.

The Railway Ministry is upgrading 61 railway stations in Karnataka with facilities like escalators, lifts, and foot over bridges, especially for senior citizens and differently abled people.

The Ministry of Railways has taken up Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB) projects, bearing the entire cost instead of sharing it with the State Government, to expedite railway infrastructure development. The redevelopment of Bengaluru Cantonment and Yesvantpur stations is also being given high priority to provide better facilities for passengers.

Long-pending railway line projects, such as Gadag–Wadi, Tumakuru–Rayadurga, and Marikuppam–Kuppam, are being expedited. The Bengaluru–Kolar direct railway line is also in the pipeline. The new RUB will reduce travel time, provide better road connectivity, and ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicles.

SuShobha Karandlaje appreciated the Railway officials and staff for completing the RUB ahead of schedule, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local people. She said the RUB will improve safety, reduce travel time, and provide better connectivity for thousands of commuters.

The Union Government is also developing dedicated freight railway lines to reduce transit time, improve efficiency, and enhance the capacity of the railway network. The inauguration of the RUB is a significant step towards improving railway infrastructure in Bengaluru and enhancing the overall connectivity of the city.

The project is expected to have a positive impact on the local community, providing better connectivity and safety for commuters. With the completion of this project, the Indian Railways is one step closer to achieving its goal of eliminating level crossing gates and improving safety across the country.

In conclusion, the inauguration of the Road Under Bridge in Bengaluru marks a significant milestone in the development of railway infrastructure in the city. The project is expected to improve connectivity, safety, and reduce travel time for commuters, and is a testament to the Indian Railways' commitment to providing better facilities for passengers.

The completion of this project is also a reflection of the Union Government's efforts to develop and improve the railway network in the country. With the development of dedicated freight railway lines and the upgrading of railway stations, the Indian Railways is poised to play a significant role in the country's economic growth and development.
