Palghar Administration Demolishes 574 Illegal Structures

The Palghar district revenue administration has demolished 574 illegal structures and houses in Mori village of Vasai taluka on September 1.

The demolition drive is part of the district administration’s wider crackdown on unauthorised development, aimed at ensuring compliance with planning laws and protecting public interest.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Palghar Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, who has adopted a policy of taking legal and decisive action against illegal constructions and encroachments.

Several complaints had been received from citizens regarding large-scale unauthorised constructions on private lands in Mori village, prompting an investigation.

Notices were issued to landholders under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, directing them to submit documents establishing land ownership and approved building permissions.

However, no satisfactory documents were submitted, leading to the demolition of the 574 unauthorised structures and houses.

Adequate police security was provided during the operation to prevent any law and order situation.

The administration has appealed to citizens not to undertake construction without obtaining necessary permissions and to strictly adhere to applicable laws.

The demolition drive is expected to continue in phases, with action against remaining unauthorised constructions in the Mori area underway.
