Two Govt Employees Dismissed Over Bribery Convictions
Two officials lost their jobs after bribery convictions.

In a significant crackdown on corruption, two government employees in Madhya Pradesh have been dismissed from service after being convicted in separate bribery cases. The first case involved Patwari Dinesh Jagtap, who was posted at Halka No 34, Chhaygaon Makhan in Khandwa district. Jagtap was found guilty of demanding Rs 3,000 from a complainant, Sadik Sheikh, to process the mutation of a 450-square-foot plot. The plot was purchased in Sheikh's wife's name.
The Lokayukta SP, Indore, caught Jagtap red-handed while accepting Rs 500 on September 16, 2019. The Special Court, Khandwa, subsequently sentenced him to three years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on March 31. Following the conviction, Collector Rishav Gupta dismissed Jagtap from service on May 13.
In the second case, Forest Guard Azam Khan, posted at the Machalgaon Forest Range Office in Bhikangaon, Khargone district, was found guilty of demanding Rs 5,000 from a complainant, Sigdar Dudve of Paldi village. Khan demanded the bribe for preparing a site map and signing documents related to a land lease. He was caught accepting Rs 1,900 on July 13, 2019. The Special Judge sentenced Khan to four years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000, with an additional two months' imprisonment in default of payment on November 19, 2025. The Divisional Forest Officer, Khargone, dismissed Khan from service with effect from November 28, 2025.
The dismissals of Jagtap and Khan demonstrate the authorities' commitment to tackling corruption within the government. The convictions and subsequent dismissals serve as a warning to other officials who may be engaging in corrupt practices. The cases highlight the importance of the Lokayukta's role in investigating and prosecuting corruption cases.
The convictions and dismissals are likely to have a positive impact on the public's perception of the government's efforts to combat corruption. The swift action taken against the convicted officials demonstrates that the authorities are serious about addressing the issue. The cases also underscore the need for continued vigilance and action against corruption in all forms.
In related news, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) recently hailed Madhya Pradesh's SIR drive, stating that the nation is proud of the state's efforts. However, the bribery convictions and dismissals of government employees serve as a reminder that there is still much work to be done to eradicate corruption from the system.
The dismissals of Jagtap and Khan are a step in the right direction, and it is hoped that such actions will continue to be taken against corrupt officials in the future. The public expects the government to take strong action against corruption, and the recent convictions and dismissals demonstrate that the authorities are committed to meeting these expectations.
The cases against Jagtap and Khan were investigated and prosecuted by the Lokayukta, which is responsible for investigating corruption cases against government officials. The Lokayukta's efforts have led to the conviction and dismissal of several corrupt officials in recent years, and its work is widely seen as a key factor in the fight against corruption in Madhya Pradesh.

The convictions and dismissals serve as a warning to other officials who may be engaging in corrupt practices, and highlight the importance of the Lokayukta's role in investigating and prosecuting corruption cases.
