Bengal Couple Narrowly Escapes Nepal Flash Flood

An elderly couple from Bengal, Anukul Poddar and his wife Reba, miraculously escaped a flash flood in Nepal on August 26. The couple was part of a 37-member tourist group, comprising 17 tourists from Bengal and 20 tourists from Telangana, on their way to Mansarovar.

The group had started their journey from Kathmandu to the immigration centre near the China border when the catastrophic flash flood took place, just 300 metres from the couple's location. According to Poddar, the quick decision by the driver and a delay in document verification on the way had saved their lives.

Initially, the couple had no idea about the disaster. However, after getting the news of the devastation, they immediately rushed back to Kathmandu. Although there was no trouble in Kathmandu, the couple was traumatised after witnessing the devastation.
