Kolkata Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Group Missing in Nepal Floods

A 32-member group from Kolkata on the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra has gone missing near the Tibet border in Nepal after flash floods struck the area. The group, comprising 30 tourists and two tour managers, had left Kolkata on August 21 and reached Nepal the following day. They were at the immigration office in Rasuwagadhi on Wednesday morning when the flash flood occurred.

The group was travelling through a city-based travel agency, which has contacted Nepal Tourism authorities and the Indian Embassy but has not received any information about those missing. The two managers, Jayanta Sanyal and Nripen Sarkar, had mobile roaming facilities, but there has been no communication with any of the 32 members since the flash flood.

The situation on the ground is extremely difficult, and communication has been disrupted. Nearly 100 people were killed and over 750, including 133 Indian nationals, remain missing after the flash flood swept through central Nepal, devastating several towns and villages.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives in the flash floods. He has extended his heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating natural calamity.
