GSB Seva Mandal's Maha Ganapati Adorned With 66 Kg Gold

The GSB Seva Mandal's Maha Ganapati, one of Mumbai's most spectacular Ganeshotsav pandals, will be unveiled on September 12. The pandal, located at King's Circle, will be adorned with over 66 kg of gold ornaments and 335 kg of silver and precious gemstones. This year marks the 72nd year of the pandal.

The mandal has taken a ₹703.27-crore insurance cover for this year's festivities, a nearly 50% increase from last year's risk protection of ₹474 crore. The insurance will cover risks to the pandal, devotees and their belongings, volunteers, and the deity's jewellery. According to Prajwal Kamath, the mandal's spokesperson, the insurance is in place to ensure the safety and security of the devotees.

As part of its 'Go Green' campaign, the mandal has introduced digital receipts and an eco-friendly idol. The five-day festival, beginning September 14, is expected to draw thousands of devotees each day.
