Gas Leak Fire Injures 3 in Bhandup

A fire broke out in Bhandup West on Sunday afternoon, injuring three people due to a gas leak during maintenance work. The incident occurred in Aman Nagar, Khindipada, and the victims were rushed to Agarwal hospital in Mulund.

According to a BMC disaster management official, the fire started when a local worker was carrying out work related to a gas cylinder. The three victims, identified as Pramila Vishwakarma, 50, Aradhana Vishwakarma, 24, and Mohammad, 52, suffered severe burn injuries.

Pramila Vishwakarma sustained 40% burns, while Aradhana Vishwakarma and Mohammad suffered 20% and 30% burns, respectively. Fortunately, all three injured individuals were reported to be in stable condition as of Sunday night.

The incident highlights the importance of safety precautions during maintenance work, especially when dealing with hazardous materials like gas cylinders. The BMC disaster management team is likely to investigate the cause of the gas leak and the subsequent fire.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman, Sunita Yadav, was injured on July 11 when a slab of an empty dilapidated building collapsed in Mankhurd. The incident occurred in Shree Saraswati Chawl, Ambedkar Nagar, and the victim was initially taken to Shatabdi hospital before being shifted to Sion hospital.

Both incidents raise concerns about safety and the need for regular maintenance and inspections to prevent such accidents. The Mumbai civic authorities must ensure that buildings and infrastructure are safe for occupants and pedestrians.

The BMC has been working to identify and demolish dilapidated buildings in the city to prevent such incidents. However, more needs to be done to ensure that maintenance work is carried out safely and efficiently.

In recent years, Mumbai has witnessed several incidents of fires and building collapses, resulting in loss of life and property. The city's authorities must take proactive measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of its citizens.

The incident in Bhandup is a reminder of the importance of safety and the need for vigilance in preventing accidents. The authorities must investigate the cause of the gas leak and take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

In conclusion, the gas leak fire in Bhandup and the building collapse in Mankhurd are a wake-up call for the city's authorities to prioritize safety and take proactive measures to prevent such incidents. The citizens of Mumbai deserve to live in a safe and secure environment, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that.
