Cricketer Runs 100km For Guinness Record
Sam Bodoano runs 100km to bowl one ball, raises £6,000 for charity

A 22-year-old cricketer from Surrey, Sam Bodoano, has completed a bizarre Guinness World Record attempt by running 100km before delivering a single ball.
The challenge began at Lord's Cricket Ground in north London and ended at Valley End Cricket Club in Woking, where Bodoano bowled the first ball of a match to his father.
Bodoano spent around 14 hours on the road, starting the challenge on Saturday and completing it on Sunday. He made the journey in full cricket whites and carried a cricket ball with him throughout the 100km run.
The effort was not only about setting a record but also about raising money for cancer charity The Ruth Strauss Foundation. Bodoano's run has already raised almost £6,000, approximately ₹7.66 lakh, for the charity.
Speaking after completing the challenge, Bodoano admitted that he was extremely tired and had lost a lot of sleep, but said the cause made the effort worthwhile.
The challenge was inspired by the previous record for the longest cricket bowling run-up, which was 15 miles. Bodoano's 100km effort has gone well beyond this mark.
There were specific conditions attached to the record attempt, including completing the full distance while carrying a cricket ball, remaining dressed in cricket whites, and taking part in a cricket match after finishing the run.
The journey began at Lord's before taking Bodoano through London and into Surrey. He started in darkness and continued through the early hours before completing the final part of the challenge in daylight.
However, the record is not official yet. Guinness World Records still has to examine Bodoano's evidence before deciding whether the attempt meets all its requirements.
The organisation will now go through its standard verification process before making a final decision. For now, Bodoano has completed a remarkable cricket challenge, combining a 100km run, a bowling delivery, and a fundraising effort for cancer charity The Ruth Strauss Foundation.
This unique challenge has brought attention to the importance of fundraising for cancer research and the dedication of individuals like Bodoano who are willing to push themselves to extreme limits for a good cause.
The outcome of the record attempt will be eagerly awaited, and if successful, Bodoano's achievement will be an inspiration to many.
In the meantime, Bodoano's efforts have already made a significant impact, raising a substantial amount for The Ruth Strauss Foundation and highlighting the power of sports to bring people together and make a difference.
