MP Cabinet Approves ₹47,990 Crore Development Package

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved a ₹47,990 crore package for the development of the state, focusing on public health, women empowerment, and infrastructure growth.

The cabinet meeting, held in Bhopal, cleared several key proposals, including the conversion of the Bhopal-Vidisha two-lane road into a four-lane road, with a paved shoulder, at a cost of ₹1,757.57 crore. This 44.380 km road is expected to accelerate industrial investment in the region.

In addition to the road upgrade, the cabinet also approved an increase in the toll tax fee collection on the Bhopal By Pass, effective from July 19, 2026, to December 31, 2031. The Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Limited will be responsible for collecting the user charge.

The cabinet also cleared proposals for women empowerment, including the Rani Durgawati Award, which will now provide ₹2 lakh to one woman every year for her contributions to social service. The amount for the Rani Avanti Bai State Level Bravery Award has also been increased to ₹2 lakh from ₹1 lakh.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved the constitution of a single-member judicial probe commission to investigate the cracker factory incident in Dewas on May 14. The commission will be headed by retired judge of the high court, Justice Subhash Kakade.

The cabinet also gave its nod to table the annual reports of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission in the state assembly. Other decisions included the continuation of the scheme related to dividend given to Joint Forest Management Committees, with a sanctioned amount of ₹918 crore, and the allocation of 20 hectares of land to the National Soybean Research Institute.

A significant portion of the ₹47,990 crore package, ₹44,515 crore, has been earmarked for the operation of health schemes, including the National Health Mission and Ayushman Bharat. The National Health Mission will receive ₹28,083.47 crore, while ₹795.59 crore has been approved for the continuation of the Block Grant Scheme for Jawahar Lal Nehru Agriculture University.

The cabinet also sanctioned ₹2.50 crore for the maintenance of properties of the Mining Department.
