Central Railway Starts Auto Loading at Bhigwan, Bhusaval

Central Railway has achieved significant milestones in its freight business by commencing automobile loading from Bhigwan Goods Shed on Solapur Division and Bhusawal Goods Shed on Bhusaval Division.

The first automobile loading from Bhigwan Goods Shed took place on July 19, 2026, with a New Modified Goods (NMG) rake carrying 100 automobiles to B.R. Transcon Limited Goods Cargo Terminal in Assam's Kamrup district. This maiden loading generated a freight revenue of ₹21 lakh.

Bhigwan Goods Shed has seen steady infrastructure development in recent years, with the handling line being opened for freight customers in May 2024. The shed has also started unloading coal and iron bars, and its circulating area and approach road have been significantly developed.

The future potential for automobile traffic from Bhigwan is highly encouraging, with 26 indents for automobile loading already registered from Bhigwan to various destinations. The expected earning from each rake is approximately ₹16 lakh to ₹22 lakh, indicating substantial growth prospects in this segment.

On the other hand, Bhusaval Division has also started automobile loading from Bhusawal Goods Shed for M/s Mahindra Logistics Ltd., Nashik. The first NMG rake carrying 100 automobiles was loaded from Bhusawal Goods Shed to Nidvanda in Bengaluru Division on July 24, 2026, generating a freight revenue of ₹14.82 lakh.

The successful commencement of automobile loading from these goods sheds reflects Central Railway's commitment to diversifying its freight basket, enhancing customer convenience, and creating new revenue streams. The initiative is also expected to support the proposed Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Nashik in July 2027.
