The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated a project to preserve the art form and legacy of legendary Pandavani singer Teejanbai, who passed away on July 5 this year.

The project, handled by the Madhya Pradesh Adivasi Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Academy, involves collecting audio and video recordings of her performances, both in India and abroad.

The team has also gathered sanads, or certificates, of her Padma awards, as well as newspaper and magazine clippings, and printed, radio, and television interviews with her. Photographs of the singer are also being collected from various institutions across the state and country.

A team from the Tribal Museum, which functions under the academy, had travelled to AIIMS, Raipur, where Teejanbai was admitted, to conduct an interview with her. Although she was unable to speak, the team managed to conduct the interview through sign language.

The team also visited her home in her native village in Chhattisgarh, where they recorded video interviews with her family members and disciples. They collected audio and video recordings, as well as other material related to her, from her home.

The collected material will be used to create an archive on Teejanbai at the Tribal Museum. According to Tribal Museum curator Ashok Mishra, it is the government's duty to preserve her legacy for future generations.

Teejanbai was one of the foremost tribal artistes of the undivided Madhya Pradesh, and her contributions to the field of music are invaluable. The preservation of her legacy will ensure that her art continues to inspire and influence generations to come.

The project is a significant step towards recognizing and preserving the cultural heritage of Madhya Pradesh, and it highlights the importance of preserving the state's rich cultural legacy.

The Madhya Pradesh government's efforts to preserve Teejanbai's legacy are a testament to the state's commitment to promoting and preserving its cultural heritage. The archive on Teejanbai will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, scholars, and music enthusiasts, and will help to keep her memory and legacy alive.

The preservation of Teejanbai's legacy is not only important for the state of Madhya Pradesh but also for the country as a whole. It recognizes the significant contributions made by tribal artistes to the field of music and highlights the importance of preserving India's rich cultural diversity.

In conclusion, the Madhya Pradesh government's decision to preserve Teejanbai's legacy is a significant step towards recognizing and preserving the state's cultural heritage. The project will help to keep her memory and legacy alive, and will serve as a valuable resource for future generations.
