Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Divisional Commissioner G Sreekanth has emphasized that maintaining cleanliness at the Ellora Caves and Ghrushneshwar Temple is a collective responsibility.

With a large number of tourists and devotees visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sreekanth directed all concerned agencies to work in coordination to ensure effective solid waste management and adequate civic infrastructure in the area.

A review meeting was held at the Divisional Commissioner's office, which was attended by various officials, including District Collector Vinay Gowda GC, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer PM Minnu, and representatives of the Archaeological Survey of India.

The commissioner also instructed the authorities to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for establishing a solid waste processing centre in the area at the earliest. Additionally, he directed officials to deploy additional manpower for regular waste collection during peak tourist seasons, undertake beautification drives, strengthen public awareness campaigns, and impose penalties for littering.

Sreekanth emphasized the need for sustainable waste management, stating that wet and dry waste should be segregated at source and encouraged the production of recyclable products from waste. He also stressed the need to increase the participation of women's self-help groups in the initiative.

The Ellora Caves and Ghrushneshwar Temple are expected to receive an even greater influx of tourists and devotees ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela. The commissioner's directives aim to ensure that the area maintains its world-class cleanliness and provides a pleasant experience for visitors.
