Thane Model Attacks RPF Staff With Razor On Train

A 31-year-old model from Thane, Antara Soham Banerjee, was arrested after allegedly attacking Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel with a razor blade on the Aravali Express train. The incident occurred on August 12 between Borivali and Dahanu, when Banerjee entered a reserved AC coach with a sleeper-class ticket and refused to vacate a seat.

According to the FIR, a passenger asked Banerjee to vacate the reserved seat, but she refused. The passenger then alerted the ticket collector and the RPF. RPF personnel intervened, but Banerjee allegedly abused and became violent, undressing and brandishing a blade. She injured RPF assistant sub-inspector Yaminikant Mishra and herself, and also damaged Mishra's uniform and mobile phone.

The RPF personnel secured the AC coach doors to prevent further escalation, and Banerjee was deboarded at Dahanu railway station and handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP). The episode lasted over an hour and left passengers shaken.

Banerjee was taken into custody by Borivali railway police the following morning and was booked for endangering safety, causing grievous harm to public servants, assault, and intentional insult. She was served a notice and later released on bail.

It is reported that Banerjee was travelling to Surat for a shoot and may have been distressed after failing to secure an AC coach ticket. When asked to contact relatives or legal counsel, Banerjee refused and demanded she be arrested.

The incident has raised concerns about passenger safety on trains and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents. The RPF and GRP are investigating the matter and taking necessary actions to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

In a separate development, some media reports carried a photograph of model and actress Antarra Banerjee in connection with the case, but her public relations team clarified that the photograph was mistakenly used and that no case has been registered against her.
