The singer claimed that his farmland in Illambazar had been occupied by influential people since the lockdown in 2020. Despite filing several complaints with the police, no action was taken, and he was unable to recover his land.

Purna Das Baul did not mention any names, but his son alleged that 'Keshto Mondal' was behind the land grab. When asked if he was referring to Anubrata Mondal, a prominent figure in the 'rebel' TMC camp, the singer's son nodded in affirmation.
