MP Aviation Department Seeks Help For Helipad Sites

The Madhya Pradesh aviation department is seeking help from the local administration to identify suitable sites for two helipads, one near the Chief Minister's House and the other near Mantralaya.

The department has been unable to find suitable land for the helipads, despite searching for several locations. Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Shukla has asked Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra to assist in finding suitable land.

The district administration is currently surveying areas near Pandit Khusilal Ayurvedic Hospital and the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) to identify potential sites. Collector Mishra stated that a team of revenue officers is working to find the right piece of land.

Previously, the housing board had planned to build rooftop helipad facilities on buildings to be constructed in place of Satpura Bhawan and Vindhyanchal. However, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) did not permit the rooftop helipad.

The aviation department plans to construct the helipads to ease traffic restrictions during the Chief Minister's cavalcade movement. The idea is for the Chief Minister to use a helicopter to travel from his residence to Mantralaya.

The state government is expected to receive a new modern ACH 160 helicopter from the French company Airbus in the coming months.
