Thane Transport Projects Get Deadline

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed civic officials to ensure the timely completion of key infrastructure, transit, and sports projects in Thane.

In a comprehensive review meeting held on Friday, Sarnaik emphasized the need for quality, transparency, and timely completion of these projects. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and other agencies.

Sarnaik directed officials to complete the construction of a football turf, swimming pool, and other public amenities before Diwali. He also instructed agencies to conduct precise technical surveys and on-ground markings before finalizing proposed Metro alignments to minimize the impact on existing structures.

To ease traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road, agencies were urged to maintain close coordination during road expansion works to prevent damage to underground power cables. The minister also directed the immediate completion of the pending retaining wall construction in the Hiranandani area.

The meeting also fast-tracked the proposed Rs 26-27 crore three-storey state-of-the-art shooting range at Waghbil, which will feature an auditorium and multi-purpose sports facilities. Sarnaik directed that the tendering process, work orders, and handovers for local sports facilities be completed without delay to meet the Diwali deadline.

In addition, directives were issued to align the proposed Pod Taxi project with the upcoming Ring Metro system. An independent technical consultancy firm will re-evaluate the project's feasibility, social impact, and technical parameters before the execution model is finalized.

The TMC will also reserve dedicated spaces for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all future project sites. To boost civic revenues, the TMC will formulate a structured Land Monetisation Policy and initiate the Expression of Interest (EOI) process to maximize the value of municipal land assets.

The completion of these projects is expected to give a major boost to Thane's growth and development. With the minister's directives, the city is likely to see significant improvements in its infrastructure, transit, and sports facilities.

The projects are part of the state government's efforts to fast-track Thane's growth and make it a hub for economic and social development. The city's strategic location and growing population make it an attractive destination for investors and residents alike.

Overall, the meeting marked an important step towards realizing Thane's potential and making it a world-class city. With the minister's vision and the civic officials' efforts, the city is poised to become a major hub for growth and development in the region.

The successful completion of these projects will have a significant impact on the city's residents, providing them with better infrastructure, transportation, and recreational facilities. It will also boost the local economy and create new opportunities for businesses and investors.

In conclusion, the directives issued by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik are a major step towards fast-tracking Thane's growth and development. The city's residents can look forward to a brighter future with improved infrastructure, transit, and sports facilities.
