Ashok Barnwal Takes Over As Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary

Ashok Barnwal, a 1991 batch IAS officer, took over as the 36th chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. He assumed the charge after Anurag Jain was relieved from the post to take up the position of CEO of NITI Aayog.

Anurag Jain handed over the charge to Barnwal, who is expected to remain in office until January next year. However, there is a possibility of an extension, as has been the case with his predecessors.

Before becoming the chief secretary, Barnwal worked in various departments and has the experience of working with four chief ministers in the CM's Secretariat. This experience is expected to help him in his new role.

Anurag Jain worked as the chief secretary of the state for 22 months, during which the government completed several important projects. These include the preparation of a promotion policy and the launch of e-filing and e-cabinet systems.

In a separate event, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav honored World Cup cricket champion Kranti Gaud and presented her with a cheque of ₹5 lakh at the CM House in Bhopal. This recognition is a testament to the state government's commitment to supporting and encouraging sports talent.
