Agriculture Minister Kansana Fails to Review Department

Aidal Singh Kansana, the Agriculture Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has been criticized for his lack of involvement in the department's functioning. Despite being the minister for two years and seven months, Kansana has never reviewed the department's performance, even once.

The Agriculture Department is responsible for several organizations, including MP Seeds and Farm Development Corporation, State Seeds Certification Agency, Agriculture Marketing Board, and Madhya Pradesh State Organic Certification Agency. However, Kansana has never assessed the functioning of these agencies.

According to sources, the minister rarely visits different parts of the state to review the progress of schemes implemented by his department. He also fails to engage with farmers' organizations, and it was only during a dispute over moong procurement that he held discussions with them for the first time in two and a half years.

Farmers' leader Shivkumar Sharma, also known as 'Kakkaji', stated that the agriculture minister shows little interest in the department. Kakkaji added that the minister hardly speaks to department officers and instead issues controversial statements. For instance, when farmers were struggling to obtain fertilizers, Kansana claimed that the government had sufficient stock.

Another farmers' leader, Kedar Sirohi, noted that 90% of peasants are unaware of the agriculture minister's name. Sirohi said that the minister has not spoken to farmers about their problems in the past one and a half years.
