AIIMS Bhopal Holds Awareness Drive On Dengue, Malaria

AIIMS Bhopal recently organised a health awareness programme at Barkhedi School to educate students, teachers, and the local community about the prevention of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and other seasonal infections during the monsoon season.

The programme was led by Dr Kuldeep Gupta, Senior Resident, Department of Community and Family Medicine, and included other team members such as Dr Abhishek Kumar and Dr Malav. The team conducted an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session with students, demonstrating practical methods for preventing mosquito-borne diseases.

Experts advised participants to regularly clean coolers, water storage tanks, flower pots, discarded tyres, and other water-holding containers to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. They also encouraged wearing full-sleeved clothing, using mosquito repellents and mosquito nets, avoiding self-medication, and seeking immediate medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility in case of fever.

The health awareness campaign aimed to educate students, teachers, and the local community about evidence-based preventive practices and the importance of community participation in promoting public health and preventing seasonal diseases. Maintaining a clean environment, preventing water stagnation, and ensuring active community participation were highlighted as the most effective measures to control dengue and other mosquito-borne illnesses.
