Pune Metro Line 3 Launch Delayed Despite Safety Clearance

The Congress party in Pune has warned of a major protest if the Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro Line 3 is not launched immediately, despite receiving provisional safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) last week.

The project, which spans 23.2 km, was granted provisional authorisation for its first phase on July 23. However, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is still awaiting the state government's decision on the inauguration date.

According to Mohan Joshi, a former MLA and Vice-President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, there is no reason to delay the launch of passenger services. He stated that the inauguration ceremony can take place later, but commuters should not be made to wait for the service to begin.
