Indore Mayor Takes E-rickshaw Ride To Promote 'No Car Day'

Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has launched an initiative to promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions in the city. He has urged residents to observe 'No Car Day' every Friday and opt for public transport instead.

To lead by example, Mayor Bhargav took an e-rickshaw ride in the city on Friday. This initiative aims to make the city cleaner, greener, healthier, and more sustainable.

In recent years, Indore has experienced significant growth, emerging as the commercial hub of Madhya Pradesh. As a result, the number of vehicles on the road has increased, contributing to pollution and congestion.

The 'No Car Day' initiative has already shown promising results. On the first day, it resulted in a remarkable saving of 1.8 lakh litres of fuel and a reduction of 445.4 metric tonnes of carbon emissions.

This effort is part of a broader push towards sustainability in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav introduced an electric vehicle into his official convoy to reduce fuel consumption and promote eco-friendly transportation.

The Indore Municipal Corporation is also working to improve the city's infrastructure and services. For instance, they plan to set up 22 health kiosks for Safai Mitras, demonstrating their commitment to the well-being of citizens and the environment.

The 'No Car Day' initiative is a step towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city. By encouraging citizens to use public transport, Indore can reduce its carbon footprint and improve the quality of life for its residents.
