Chitrakoot Flood: Water Level Recedes, 688 Rescued

The flood situation in Chitrakoot has shown significant improvement, with the water level of the Mandakini River receding to 128.00 metres from its highest level of 135.20 metres on August 29.

The district administration, under the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has been actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. So far, 688 people have been safely evacuated and moved to relief camps.

A total of 653 houses have been partially damaged, and assistance amounting to Rs 7.52 lakh has already been transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries in 188 cases. Meanwhile, assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh has been provided in one case of complete damage.

To ensure the health and well-being of affected people, 28 medical teams are conducting health check-ups and distributing medicines along with ambulances and necessary medicines. A survey of crop damage is also being conducted to provide relief to farmers.

In a separate rescue operation, 12 shepherds and over 2,000 sheep were rescued by police and administration officials in Ghazipur as the water level of the Ganga River rose.
