Nashik Collector Reviews Flood Preparedness in Igatpuri
Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad visits Igatpuri, reviews flood preparedness amid heavy rains

Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad visited Igatpuri taluka on Tuesday to review the flood preparedness in the area. The visit came after the Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of cloudburst-like rainfall in several talukas of Nashik district, including Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri, and Nashik Rural. Although the immediate threat has been averted as the cloud formations shifted towards Palghar and Surat, continuous rainfall has caused water levels in several rivers to rise.
The district administration has been on high alert since Tuesday, with Collector Ayush Prasad inspecting the rainfall situation in villages in Igatpuri taluka. Heavy rain has been lashing Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar talukas, causing several rivers to flow at full capacity. The road connecting Trimbakeshwar and Khodala has been closed due to the rain, and motorists have been urged to exercise caution due to soil and debris accumulation on the Old Kasara Highway.
During his visit, Collector Ayush Prasad inspected the bridge over the Darna River, located between Nandgaon Sado and Bhavli in Igatpuri taluka. Noting the rising river water levels, he ordered the deployment of security personnel at the site and instructed officials to close the bridge to traffic if necessary. The Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar Sub-Divisional Officer, Assistant District Collector Dr G.V.S. Pawan Datta, and Tehsildar Abhijit Baravkar were among the officials present during the visit.
Although the intensity of the rainfall remains high in the district, no major incidents of damage have been reported so far. Collector Ayush Prasad stated that the administration is vigilant and the situation is under control. The district administration has directed preventive measures in landslide-prone areas amid heavy rains, and security personnel have been deployed to ensure public safety.
The rising water levels in rivers and the closure of roads have affected commuters and residents in the area. However, the district administration's prompt response and preparedness have helped to mitigate the impact of the heavy rainfall. The situation is being closely monitored, and officials are working to ensure that the flood preparedness measures are in place to handle any potential emergencies.
In the coming days, the district administration will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary measures to ensure public safety. With the rainfall expected to continue, residents are advised to exercise caution and follow the instructions of the authorities. The district administration's efforts to review and improve flood preparedness in Igatpuri and other affected areas will help to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall and ensure the safety of residents and commuters.
