Maharashtra FDA Suspends Blink Commerce Licence

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licence of Blink Commerce Private Limited in Malad, Mumbai, after an inspection revealed severe hygiene lapses and a major cockroach infestation.

The inspection, which took place on August 7, found food items stored on rusted racks and directly on the floor, inadequate cleaning of the cold storage area, and expired and tampered packaged food products.

The FDA officials also found non-compliance with FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) stock rotation practices, inadequate pest and rodent control, poor waste management, and lack of proper cleaning and maintenance.

A heavy cockroach infestation was observed in the vegetable and fruit storage area, raising the risk of food contamination. Expired and damaged or tampered packages were also found in the cold room.

The FDA suspended Blink Commerce's food licence, No. 11524010000119, under Section 32(3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and relevant licensing regulations. The licence has been suspended from July 27, 2026, until further orders.

The establishment has been prohibited from selling or distributing food or conducting any food business during the suspension period. The FDA warned that strict legal action would follow if the unit is found operating during the suspension.
