Assam's Atmanirbhar Scheme Sees Low Credit Uptake
Assam's Atmanirbhar scheme has low credit uptake, Minister urges improvement

Assam's Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) scheme, launched on September 23, 2023, aims to transform the state's youth into job creators. The scheme provides financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh to eligible beneficiaries.
Despite full government backing, the scheme has seen poor performance in credit uptake. Only 329 entrepreneurs have managed to secure support under the Centre's credit linkage schemes, amounting to Rs 13.54 crore.
Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah expressed concern over the low number of beneficiaries who could access bank-linked schemes. He appealed to all beneficiaries of the CMAAA to put in their best efforts to make the scheme successful.
In the first phase, 25,267 beneficiaries were selected and received Rs 1 lakh each. Additionally, 221 professionals were brought under the scheme and given Rs 2.50 lakh each. The government has selected 74,694 entrepreneurs for assistance in the second phase, with 74,350 belonging to the general category and 206 being professionals.
Each of these entrepreneurs will receive Rs 75,000 under the second phase, along with a three-day training programme in each district. The training will conclude on July 31, and the funds will be released in August.
The scheme is part of Assam's efforts to move away from a past defined by agitation and towards a future built on prosperity and self-reliance. The state government is fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem across the state, empowering the next generation to fuel Assam's economic growth.
The CMAAA scheme has the potential to create a new path for progress, stability, and dignity for the people of Assam. However, the low credit uptake is a concern that needs to be addressed. The government's efforts to provide training and financial assistance are commendable, but the beneficiaries must also put in their best efforts to make the scheme successful.
The success of the CMAAA scheme will depend on the ability of the beneficiaries to access credit and utilize the financial assistance provided to them. The government must continue to monitor the performance of the beneficiaries and provide support where needed.
In conclusion, the CMAAA scheme is an important initiative by the Assam government to promote entrepreneurship and economic growth. While there have been some challenges, the scheme has the potential to create a positive impact on the state's economy and the lives of its people.
The low credit uptake is a challenge that needs to be addressed, and the government must work with the beneficiaries to improve their access to credit. With the right support and efforts, the CMAAA scheme can be a success and contribute to the economic growth and development of Assam.
The scheme's success will also have a positive impact on the country as a whole, as it will contribute to the growth of the national economy. The government's efforts to promote entrepreneurship and economic growth are commendable, and the CMAAA scheme is an important step in this direction.
Overall, the CMAAA scheme is a positive initiative that has the potential to create a lasting impact on the economy and the lives of the people of Assam. With the right support and efforts, it can be a success and contribute to the growth and development of the state and the country.
The scheme's impact will be closely watched, and its success will depend on the ability of the government and the beneficiaries to work together to address the challenges and achieve the goals of the scheme.
