Thane MLC Urges Collector for 4-Acre Stray Dog Shelter

Advocate Niranjan Davkhare, Member of the Legislative Council for the Konkan Graduates’ Constituency, has submitted a formal memorandum to Thane District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal, requesting the setting up of a dedicated animal shelter in Thane district.

The rising stray dog population in Thane has triggered significant safety and public health issues, with frequent citizen grievances, particularly in rural areas. Davkhare has urged the administration to allocate 4 to 5 acres of government land in a non-residential, rural area to establish a fully equipped shelter facility.

The MLC pressed the district administration to fast-track land identification, budget allocation, departmental coordination, and official administrative clearances. He assured that he would actively follow up on the initiative’s progress.
