Drunk Tourist Creates Midnight Ruckus In Mussoorie
A drunk woman from Delhi caused a disturbance, misbehaved with friends and police. Police intervened and counselled her.

A late-night incident in Mussoorie involving a group of tourists from Delhi ended with police intervention after one of the women allegedly became heavily intoxicated and started creating a disturbance. The incident took place in the early hours of July 5, when the group's companions sought emergency assistance after they were unable to calm the woman, whose behaviour had become increasingly aggressive under the influence of alcohol.
According to Inspector-in-Charge Devendra Singh Chauhan, the Dial-112 control room received a call from a woman visiting Mussoorie with three companions from Delhi at approximately 3:17 am on July 5. The caller reported that one of the women in their group had consumed excessive alcohol and was being abusive and quarrelsome. When the companions failed to regain control, police assistance was sought.
Following the alert, personnel from the Cheetah police unit posted near Library Chowki were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, officers found two men and two women, with one of the women visibly intoxicated and behaving inappropriately with the others in the group. The police escorted all four tourists to the nearby police station to ensure the situation remained under control.
At the police station, the woman allegedly began making baseless allegations against fellow tourists, police personnel, and even her own companions. She also behaved rudely with the officers present. However, considering the incident occurred late at night and involved a woman, police decided against taking immediate punitive action. Instead, all four tourists were asked to remain at the police station while officers counselled them and allowed time for the woman to sober up.
After her condition improved, the group reportedly apologised for their conduct. Inspector Chauhan stated that the police made everyone sit in the police station and counselled the woman. After some time, when her intoxication subsided, all four tourists expressed regret for their behaviour. The police then counselled them and sent them away.
The incident highlights the importance of responsible behaviour, especially in public places. The police's decision to counsel the group instead of taking legal action shows their commitment to handling sensitive situations with care and understanding. The incident has also raised awareness about the need for tourists to respect local laws and regulations, and to behave responsibly while visiting new places.
The police have not disclosed the identities of the tourists involved in the incident, and it is unclear what further action will be taken. However, the incident serves as a reminder to tourists to be mindful of their behaviour and to respect the local community and authorities.
The Mussoorie police have handled similar incidents in the past, and their approach to counselling and educating tourists has been effective in preventing such incidents from escalating. The police have also increased their presence in tourist areas to ensure that visitors feel safe and secure.
