BJP Deploys Ministers By Caste For Datia By-Election

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has devised a strategy for the upcoming Datia by-election in Madhya Pradesh. After awarding the ticket to Ashutosh Tiwari, the party has decided to deploy its ministers for electioneering based on their castes.

The Datia constituency has a significant population of Brahmins and Scheduled Caste (SC) category individuals, with the Kushwaha community also having a substantial presence. The BJP aims to leverage this demographic to its advantage by assigning ministers to campaign in areas where their respective castes have a strong presence.

To win over Brahmin voters, who have traditionally supported Narottam Mishra, the BJP has begun to appease Mishra. Ministers Rakesh Shukla and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, both Brahmins, have been deployed to campaign in Datia. Additionally, SC ministers such as Jagdish Devda, Tulsi Silawat, and Dileep Ahirwar will also be campaigning in the constituency.

The party is also considering assigning election responsibilities to former minister Lal Singh Arya. Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha has been advised to spend time in the district, while MP from Gwalior, Bharat Singh Kushwaha, has also been given poll-related work.

The BJP has also taken into account the presence of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) such as Yadav, Lodhi, and Pal in Datia. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's influence over the Yadav community is expected to be leveraged, with ministers Prahlad Patel and Dharmendra Lodhi working on the by-poll campaign.

The selection of star campaigners for the Datia by-election has also been done with caste equations in mind. The team of star campaigners includes six Brahmin leaders, as well as SC leaders such as Jagdish Devda and Veerandra Khatik.

In a significant development, Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya met Narottam Mishra on Tuesday, in an apparent attempt to assuage Mishra's feelings after being denied the ticket for the Datia by-election.
