GAIL, RCF Partner for Maharashtra Fertilizer Project

GAIL (India) Limited and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a gas-based fertilizer project in Maharashtra.

The proposed project will have a capacity of 1.27 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum and will be located in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The project will utilize GAIL's Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline.

GAIL and RCF will work together to implement the project, with both companies contributing their expertise. The MoU was signed by Sanjay Agarwal, ED (BD & Start-up) of GAIL, and Ms. Jyoti Patil, Executive Director (Project, Corporate & Co-ordination) of RCF.

Deepak Gupta, CMD of GAIL, stated that the project aligns with GAIL's strategy of utilizing natural gas and contributing to India's energy security objectives. He also mentioned that the partnership is aligned with the Government of India's National Investment Policy for Urea-2026.

S. Shivakumar, C&MD of RCF, expressed his delight at collaborating with GAIL for the project. He stated that the project will contribute significantly to meeting the growing fertilizer demand in the country and promoting industrial development in the Vidarbha region.

The project is expected to reduce import dependence and create a world-class fertilizer facility. The partnership between GAIL and RCF combines their strengths in the natural gas value chain and fertilizer manufacturing.

The signing of the MoU was attended by senior management from both companies, including R.K. Singhal, Director (BD) of GAIL, and Ms. Nazhat J. Shaikh, Director (Finance) of RCF.
