₹20 Lakh Garlic Consignment Goes Missing In Transit

A consignment of 136 quintals of garlic, valued at around ₹20 lakh, has gone missing while being transported from Piplia Mandi in Madhya Pradesh to Dhupguri in West Bengal.

The garlic was loaded into a truck on August 23 and was supposed to be delivered to Gupta Trading Company in Dhupguri. However, the next day, the mobile phones of the truck driver, Dinesh, and his companion, Akbar Ansari, were found to be switched off.

The buyer in West Bengal also informed the seller, Lokesh Harjani, that the consignment had not arrived. Harjani, a garlic trader operating at Piplia Mandi Krishi Upaj Mandi, had hired the truck through Assam Bengal MD Road Lines Mandsaur Transport.

The Piplia Mandi police have registered a case against the truck driver and his companion under Section 316(3) of the BNS for alleged breach of trust. The police are verifying the registration, ownership, and transport documents of the truck, as well as its possible route.
