Marathi Mandatory for Commercial Drivers
Commercial drivers must speak Marathi from Aug 16. New rule aims for clearer communication.

From August 16, commercial vehicle drivers in Maharashtra will be required to speak Marathi. This new rule, announced by state Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, aims to facilitate clearer communication.
The state transport department issued a notification on July 8 regarding this mandate, amending the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to implement the new rule.
To support the implementation of this rule, classes are being organized in Regional Transport Office (RTO) offices to teach the Marathi language to commercial vehicle drivers.
This move is expected to improve communication among drivers and transport authorities in the state.
The notification was issued to ensure that all commercial drivers in Maharashtra can communicate effectively in the local language.
