Yogi Cabinet Raises PRD Duty Allowance to ₹600

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved two significant decisions benefiting Provincial Guards (PRD) volunteers.

The daily duty allowance for PRD volunteers has been increased from ₹500 to ₹600 per day. This decision will benefit 27,794 PRD volunteers and their families across the state, with an estimated additional annual financial burden of ₹101.44 crore on the state government.

The increased allowance will result in a higher honorarium for PRD volunteers serving for 30 days, with an increase of ₹3,000 per month. The total estimated annual expenditure on PRD volunteers will be ₹608 crore 68 lakh 86 thousand.

The Cabinet has also approved the Mukhyamantri PRD Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, providing cashless medical facilities to PRD volunteers and their dependent family members. Currently, 31,130 registered PRD volunteers and their dependents will benefit from the scheme, with an estimated annual expenditure of around ₹9.34 crore.

The scheme will be operated through the State Agency for Comprehensive Health Integrated Services (SACHIS), and volunteers and their dependents will receive the scheme benefit only during the period of service. However, those already covered under other health schemes sponsored by the Central or State Government will not be included under this scheme.

The government has made an immediate provision of ₹45 crore through supplementary grants for the remaining months of the current financial year 2026-27 for the increased allowance. Additionally, a provision of ₹5 crore has been made for the cashless medical scheme.

These decisions aim to provide PRD volunteers with economic and health-related security, recognizing their contributions to the state.
