CBI Arrests 3 in ₹40 Lakh Raigad Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three individuals, including two Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) officials, in a bribery case in Raigad district of Maharashtra.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Vinay Kumar Kantheti, Additional Commissioner of GST, Rakesh Kumar Sinha, Superintendent of GST, and Narinder Rajput, a private person.

The CBI registered a case against the accused on Wednesday, alleging that Sinha had demanded a bribe of ₹1.50 crore to settle a GST/royalty matter related to a stone-quarrying firm. The demand was later reduced to ₹40 lakh.

All three accused are being produced before a competent court. Searches conducted at their premises resulted in the recovery of ₹43 lakh in cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹90 lakh.
