In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 572.106 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh over the past two-and-a-half months. This accounts for the majority of the 690 kg of narcotics seized by the DRI across the country during this period.

The DRI carried out 17 operations nationwide, resulting in the seizure of drugs worth Rs 43.5 crore in the illicit market. Of the 25 traffickers arrested, 16 were held in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, including three Nigerians and one Ugandan national.

The DRI's MP Zonal Unit, covering Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, conducted eight operations since May 27, with seven in Madhya Pradesh and one in Chhattisgarh. These operations were conducted in various cities, including Bhopal, Ratlam, Indore, Raipur, Jaora, and Seoni.

The drugs seized included crystalline methamphetamine, amphetamine, cocaine, poppy straw, and cannabis. The DRI's efforts have led to the arrest of several traffickers, including foreigners, and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics.

In one notable operation, five traffickers, including four Nigerians, were arrested under Operation CRYSTAL DAGGER, and 8.6 kg of drugs worth Rs 7.1 crore were seized in Bhopal and Greater Noida. In another operation, a Nigerian was arrested with two kg of amphetamine worth Rs 1.6 crore.

The seizures and arrests have highlighted the growing problem of drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The region's strategic location and transportation networks make it an attractive route for traffickers.

The DRI's crackdown on drug trafficking is part of a larger effort to combat the illicit drug trade in India. The agency's efforts have led to significant seizures and arrests, disrupting the supply chain of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

The seizures and arrests in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are a significant achievement for the DRI and demonstrate the agency's commitment to combating drug trafficking. The region's emergence as a major drug trafficking hub is a concern, and the DRI's efforts will help to mitigate this problem.

In conclusion, the DRI's seizure of 572 kg of narcotics in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh is a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking. The agency's efforts will help to disrupt the supply chain of narcotics and psychotropic substances, reducing the availability of these substances in the region.
