Nashik Man Drowns in Godavari River

A 32-year-old man drowned in the Godavari River near the jogging track in the Goda Park area of Nashik on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased, Shubham Maruti Pawar, was a resident of Pratham Row Bungalow, Samarth Nagar, Peth Road.

He was found unconscious in the river around 1 pm by his cousin, Nilesh Nandu Gunjal, and locals, who immediately rushed him to the District Civil Hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, the attending medical officer, Dr Gangurde, declared him dead.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Panchvati Police Station, and Police Constable SS Baviskar is conducting further investigation.

The incident has caused a pall of gloom in the Samarth Nagar and Peth Road areas.
