Maharashtra Govt Plans Prison Expansion Amid 173% Occupancy

Maharashtra's prisons are operating at nearly 173% of their sanctioned capacity, with major facilities facing severe overcrowding. The Arthur Road Central Jail, for instance, is housing around 3,410 inmates against a sanctioned capacity of 999.
