KDMC Launches Mega Plantation Drive in Kalyan

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) launched a large-scale tree plantation drive at the Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Processing Plant in Manda (West) on Monday.

The drive was led by Mayor Adv. Harshali Vijay Choudhary and Municipal Commissioner Abhinav Goel, along with other officials and local school students.

As part of the 'Mission Harit KDMC' initiative, several indigenous tree saplings were planted at the C&D Waste Processing Plant. The campaign aims to improve environmental health and ensure a cleaner and healthier future for coming generations.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from schoolchildren, who pledged to contribute towards environmental protection. The programme sought to instil awareness about climate responsibility, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of preserving trees among young citizens.

Civic officials stressed that urban afforestation has become an essential component of sustainable city development, particularly in rapidly expanding urban centres such as Kalyan and Dombivli.
