FSSAI Bars Dabur India From Selling Products With Misleading Claims

The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken strict action against Dabur India Limited, directing the company to immediately stop selling food products that carry misleading '100%' claims. This decision was made after FSSAI found that several products on Dabur's website were making unverified claims such as '100% Natural', '100% Pure', and '100% Organic'.

According to FSSAI, these claims are in contravention of the FSS (Advertising & Claims) Regulations, 2018, as they are ambiguous, unverifiable, and likely to mislead consumers. The authority also found that two of Dabur's products, Dabur Himalayan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Dabur Organic Honey, were displaying the Jaivik Bharat Logo without valid FSSAI organic endorsement.

FSSAI noted that despite an earlier notice directing Dabur to discontinue the misleading claims, no satisfactory corrective action was taken by the company. The authority has issued a Prohibition Order to Dabur, directing it to cease the sale of products carrying these misleading claims.
