Jalgaon Hosts Environment Festival

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation, in association with Nashik-based Hirvankur Sanstha and Jalgaon's Green City Foundation, will organise the Environment Festival 2026 from August 12 to 16.

The five-day event aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation, tree plantation, and the need to keep the city clean and green.

Mayor Deepmala Kale announced the festival at a press conference, urging citizens, especially young people, to actively participate in the initiative.

She stressed the need to increase the city's green cover and ensure that newly planted trees are properly cared for.

The festival will be inaugurated on August 12 at 10 am at Nutan Maratha College, with a bicycle rally and a Vruksha-Dindi, or tree awareness procession, held before the inauguration.

An environmental exhibition will also be organised during the festival, remaining open to the public from August 12 to 16, with free entry for citizens, women, and students.

Organisers have appealed to schools, colleges, and residents to visit the exhibition and participate in the various activities.

Kale said that making Jalgaon cleaner and more attractive would require the involvement of every resident, citing Indore's reputation as one of India's cleanest cities as an example.

The press conference was attended by Nilaybabu Jain Shah, head of Hirvankur Foundation, Nashik; Vijaykumar Vani, director of Jalgaon Green City; Nalini Shah and Kanchan Vani, along with JCMC officials and office-bearers.

The organisers said the festival will provide an opportunity for residents and students to learn about environmental protection while encouraging greater participation in tree plantation and cleanliness initiatives across Jalgaon.
