MSRTC Hikes Special Bus Booking Charges

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has revised its special bus booking charges, effective from August 6, 2026. This revision comes after the 13 per cent increase in ordinary bus fares implemented from July 18. The new rates will apply to special bus bookings for weddings, tourism, religious trips, and private events.

According to MSRTC, the revised tariff includes new per-kilometre charges, minimum distance criteria, cancellation fees, additional time charges, security deposits, and separate conditions for electric buses. A minimum charge of 300 km will apply for most buses, while 9-metre and 12-metre electric buses will have a minimum billing of 325 km.

The revised tariff structure includes charges such as Rs 75 per km for standard buses on round trips and Rs 115 per km for one-way bookings. AC Shivshahi buses will be charged at Rs 120 per km and Rs 180 per km, respectively. Rajmata Jijau buses will cost Rs 90 and Rs 135 per km.

However, MSRTC has retained the 50 per cent concession for educational institutions undertaking study tours. Schools and colleges will pay only half the applicable charter fare, with the remaining amount reimbursed to MSRTC by the Maharashtra government.

The revised policy is expected to impact tour operators, event organisers, and passengers planning to hire MSRTC buses. It is essential for them to estimate costs in advance before booking. The new rates will also include additional charges for tolls, GST, parking, extra drivers, the Accident Assistance Fund, and a cleaning surcharge, wherever applicable.

The revision in special bus booking charges is a significant development for those who rely on MSRTC services for their events and travel needs. It is crucial for them to be aware of the new rates and plan accordingly.

In recent times, MSRTC has been taking steps to improve its services and stay competitive in the market. The introduction of new buses and the revision of fares are part of these efforts. The corporation aims to provide efficient and affordable services to its passengers.

The impact of the revised special bus booking charges will be seen in the coming days. It is expected that the new rates will affect the demand for MSRTC services, and the corporation will have to adapt to the changing needs of its passengers.

In conclusion, the revision in special bus booking charges by MSRTC is a significant development that will impact various stakeholders. It is essential for them to be aware of the new rates and plan accordingly.

The Maharashtra government's decision to retain the 50 per cent concession for educational institutions is a welcome move. It will help schools and colleges to continue using MSRTC services for their study tours without incurring significant costs.

Overall, the revised special bus booking charges by MSRTC are a step towards improving its services and staying competitive in the market. The corporation's efforts to provide efficient and affordable services to its passengers are commendable, and it is expected that the new rates will have a positive impact on its services.

The new tariff structure and the revised policy are expected to bring about significant changes in the way MSRTC operates. It is crucial for the corporation to ensure that the new rates are implemented smoothly and that passengers are not inconvenienced.

In the end, the revision in special bus booking charges by MSRTC is a significant development that will have a lasting impact on the corporation's services. It is essential for passengers and stakeholders to be aware of the new rates and plan accordingly.
