Uttar Pradesh Deploys 504 GNSS Rovers For Land Surveys

The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new technology to modernize the land measurement and demarcation process in the state.

The Yogi Government has deployed 504 GNSS Rovers across the state to improve the accuracy of land surveys. Of these, 350 have been supplied to tehsils, where work has already commenced.

Additionally, 143 Rovers are being used in map projects across 10 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Two Rovers have been deployed at the Consolidation Training Centre in Hardoi, while nine Rovers purchased for Lekhpal training institutes have been used for training purposes.

According to Kanchan Verma, Commissioner and Secretary, Board of Revenue, the deployment of GNSS Rovers is not limited to tehsils alone. The Rovers are being used for field surveys, and 143 have been deployed for map projects in 10 ULBs.

The use of GNSS Rovers is a significant shift from traditional methods of land measurement, which relied on chains and measuring tapes. The new technology provides precise positioning with an accuracy of approximately 1 to 5 centimetres.

Surveyors use the Rovers to record digital coordinates of key points along field or land boundaries. The data is then used to calculate distances and area, and a digital map is prepared.

The digital coordinates collected in the field can be integrated with GIS and land record systems, making it easier to preserve data, verify its quality, and use it whenever required.

The introduction of GNSS Rovers is part of a larger effort to modernize the Revenue Department. The department conducted a special mega campaign under Section-24 from July 1 to August 15 to speed up the disposal of matters related to land boundaries and measurement.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the campaign from Saharanpur on July 1. The Revenue Department also issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the campaign was implemented effectively and uniformly.

The use of modern survey technology has increased the technical capability of land-related work in the state. The GNSS Rovers are making surveys more scientific and digital, reducing human intervention in the calculation of distances and areas.

The Uttar Pradesh government's initiative to deploy GNSS Rovers is a significant step towards improving the accuracy and efficiency of land surveys in the state.

The introduction of this technology is expected to have a positive impact on the state's land management and revenue collection systems. With the increased accuracy and efficiency provided by the GNSS Rovers, the state can better manage its land resources and reduce disputes over land boundaries.

In conclusion, the deployment of 504 GNSS Rovers in Uttar Pradesh marks a significant milestone in the state's efforts to modernize its land measurement and demarcation processes. The use of this technology is expected to bring greater accuracy and efficiency to land surveys, and ultimately contribute to the state's overall development and growth.
