Pune Police File FIR Against 150 NSUI Workers Over COEP Clash

A clash broke out at the COEP Technological University hostel in Pune on Saturday, August 21, between workers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI). The incident occurred between 7:45 pm and 9:45 pm, and police have registered an FIR against around 100 to 150 NSUI activists.

According to the complaint filed by the university administration, the controversy began when NSUI activists allegedly recorded a female student without her consent and pressured her to make a statement about the university charging her general-category fees despite her admission under the orphan quota. The FIR further alleges that the activists forcibly opened the hostel gate, pushed and harassed the security guard, and entered the premises without permission.

The university administration has also lodged a complaint against an ABP Majha reporter, alleging that the reporter entered the hostel premises without authorization. Police have registered the case and appointed Police Inspector Amar Namdev Kalge as the investigating officer.
