Pune's Ganesh Mandals serving prasad or other food during the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival must register with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). The FDA has made registration mandatory to ensure food safety and hygiene.

The FDA will deploy special teams to inspect food preparation and hygiene throughout the festival. These teams will visit Mandals and check the quality of prasad and mahaprasad, as well as the conditions in which food is prepared and distributed.
