Rotten Onion Stock Found At NAFED Warehouse In Nashik

A serious allegation has been made by the Chhava Krantiveer Sena regarding a large quantity of substandard and rotten onions being stored at a NAFED warehouse in Takali-Vinchur near Lasalgaon, Nashik.

The organisation's representatives inspected the warehouse and claimed that the rotten onions have caused a foul smell in the surrounding area.

Lasalgaon in-charge Talathi Janardan Ushir and Takali-Vinchur Talathi Laxmanrao Shinde were present during the inspection.

Despite the spot inspection, the concerned onion stock was allegedly not recorded through a formal panchnama.

The organisation's office-bearers, including District Rural Chief Navnath Vairal, Taluka Chief Praful Gaikwad, and others, have raised questions over the matter and suspect that onions may have been purchased from traders at around ₹600–700 per quintal and subsequently stored in the warehouse.

They have demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) be constituted to conduct a detailed probe into the entire matter and that strict legal action be taken against those found responsible.

The organisation has also questioned whether government norms were followed in the NAFED-NCCF onion procurement process.

State Public Relations Chief Gorakh Sant and his colleagues have warned that if an inquiry is not conducted and action is not taken within the next eight days, they will stage an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Nashik District Collector’s office.

The official response of the concerned administration and NAFED officials regarding the actual condition of the onions, the procurement process, and the alleged failure to conduct a panchnama is yet to be made public.

The Chhava Krantiveer Sena's allegations have raised concerns about the quality of onions being stored and the potential impact on the surrounding area.

The demand for a SIT probe and strict action against those responsible highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the onion procurement process.

The situation is being closely monitored, and the outcome of the inquiry and any subsequent actions will be crucial in addressing the concerns raised by the Chhava Krantiveer Sena.

In the context of the Indian agricultural sector, the allegations of substandard onions being stored and the potential irregularities in the procurement process are significant and warrant a thorough investigation.

The incident also underscores the importance of ensuring that government norms and regulations are followed in the procurement and storage of agricultural produce.

For the people of Nashik and the surrounding areas, the resolution of this issue is crucial, as it affects not only the quality of onions but also the overall trust in the system.

The Chhava Krantiveer Sena's efforts to bring this issue to light and demand accountability are a step towards ensuring that the concerns of the people are addressed and that those responsible are held accountable.

The outcome of this incident will have implications for the agricultural sector and the people of Nashik, and it is essential that a thorough and transparent investigation is conducted to resolve the matter.
