BMC Schools See Growing Parental Trust
BMC schools attract more students, focus on tech and skills. Education Officer Sujata Khare speaks at awards event.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools have been registering strong academic performances and attracting increasing numbers of students. According to Sujata Khare, Education Officer, BMC, the growing confidence that parents are placing in municipal schools is one of the biggest indicators of the transformation taking place in the education system.
At The Free Press Journal's third edition of the BMC Schools Toppers' Awards, where 28 Class 10 toppers were felicitated, Khare praised the initiative for creating a platform that celebrates the achievements of students from municipal schools. She said the recognition means a lot to the students and is an opportunity for society to acknowledge their hard work.
The BMC has expanded beyond the traditional SSC curriculum by introducing schools affiliated with other education boards, such as CBSE. Khare noted that the first and second batches of students from these schools have already completed their Class 10 examinations. The number of students in CBSE schools is growing every year, with many places receiving requests to increase the number of divisions due to rising admissions.
Khare highlighted that one of the biggest strengths of BMC schools is that they provide quality education without placing a financial burden on families. Students receive uniforms, textbooks, and other essential items free of cost. The BMC's priority remains consistent, delivering meaningful learning experiences regardless of the education board chosen by parents.
The civic body's focus is now on preparing children for a rapidly changing world through technology, skill development, and diverse learning opportunities. With the growing trust of parents, BMC schools are set to continue their strong academic performances and attract even more students in the future.
The BMC Schools Toppers' Awards event was a celebration of academic success and an opportunity for students to express themselves. Khare congratulated the toppers and thanked The Free Press Journal and Navshakti for creating a platform that recognizes the achievements of students from municipal schools.
