Two men were arrested by the Pune police on Tuesday for stealing foreign liquor bottles worth ₹27,200 from a shop in Kalyani Nagar.

The accused, identified as Rohan Ram Kamble (28) and Amit Mahadev Sitapure (27), were apprehended by a team from Yerwada police station near the GST office in Kalyani Nagar.

According to the police, the accused were found to be in possession of six bottles of foreign liquor, which they had stolen from the 'Tonic Outlet' shop in Kalyani Nagar. The police recovered the stolen liquor and took the accused to the Yerwada police station for questioning.

During questioning, the accused admitted to stealing the liquor bottles. The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police are investigating the matter to ascertain the nexus and to see if the accused duo has been involved in similar incidents in the past. Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the case.

The arrest was made after police personnel received information about two suspicious-looking youths standing near the GST office. The police team arrived at the spot and intercepted the two youths, who failed to provide satisfactory answers during questioning.

Upon searching the bag they were carrying, the police found the six bottles of foreign liquor. The recovered liquor is linked to a theft case registered at the Yerwada police station.
