Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests Auto-Rickshaw Driver With ₹10 Crore Charas

A 31-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Santosh Sav, was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell near Bandra railway station on August 18, 2026.

The accused, a resident of Motihari district in Bihar, was found with 10 kg of charas worth around ₹10 crore. According to the police, Sav had travelled from Bihar to Mumbai to supply the drugs.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell received a tip-off about the accused's arrival in Mumbai with a consignment of charas. Acting on this information, the Worli unit laid a trap near Bandra railway station and intercepted Sav.

During a search, police recovered 10 kg of charas from his possession. The seized contraband has an estimated market value of approximately ₹10 crore.

Sav, who studied only up to Class 2 and works as an auto-rickshaw driver, was produced before a court on Tuesday. The court remanded him to police custody till August 21.

The police suspect that Sav was part of a drug supply network operating between Bihar and Mumbai. They are now trying to ascertain who had sent him to Mumbai, from where he procured the contraband, and to whom the consignment was to be delivered.
