CM Launches 21 Lakh Sapling Drive in Indore

In a significant environmental initiative, Indore launched a massive campaign on Sunday to plant 21 lakh saplings across the district. The drive, which began at the 48-acre Budhaniya Hill, aims to establish 51,000 rainwater harvesting units as well.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling in his mother's name under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. The event saw participation from government departments, social organisations, educational institutions, and thousands of citizens.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the campaign is not just a tree plantation programme, but a people's movement to strengthen the bond between humanity and nature. He highlighted the importance of plantation in tackling pollution and environmental degradation, as trees absorb carbon dioxide, reduce pollution, and help maintain ecological balance.

Yadav praised Indore for leading the state's environmental conservation efforts and expressed hope that the city's commitment to planting 21 lakh saplings would inspire the rest of Madhya Pradesh. He urged citizens to not only plant trees but also ensure their long-term care.

As part of the district-wide campaign, 51,000 saplings are being planted within the Border Security Force (BSF) campus. The initiative also includes the construction of 51,000 rainwater harvesting units to improve groundwater recharge and ensure sustainable water availability for the newly planted trees.

The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, under which the plantation drive is being organised, aims to promote environmental conservation and sustainability. The BSF provided the 48-acre Budhaniya Hill site, where large-scale plantation has begun with support from civic bodies, volunteers, and environmental organisations.

The plantation drive will include a variety of native and fruit-bearing species suited to local climatic conditions. Alongside afforestation, the rainwater harvesting initiative aims to improve groundwater levels and provide long-term irrigation support, making the campaign sustainable while expanding Indore's green cover and strengthening its environmental resilience.

The campaign has brought together various stakeholders, including government departments, social organisations, and citizens, to work towards a common goal of environmental conservation. The success of this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and inspire other cities to follow suit.

In the context of India's growing environmental concerns, initiatives like the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign are crucial in promoting sustainability and conservation. The campaign's focus on native species, water conservation, and community participation makes it a model for other cities to replicate.

The launch of the 21 lakh sapling drive in Indore is a significant step towards environmental conservation in Madhya Pradesh. As the city works towards achieving its goal, it is expected to inspire other cities and states to take similar initiatives, ultimately contributing to a greener and more sustainable India.

The success of this campaign will have a lasting impact on the environment and the community, making it a significant development in the state's environmental conservation efforts. As India continues to grow and develop, initiatives like the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign will play a crucial role in promoting sustainability and mitigating the effects of environmental degradation.

In conclusion, the launch of the 21 lakh sapling drive in Indore is a significant step towards environmental conservation in Madhya Pradesh. The campaign's focus on community participation, native species, and water conservation makes it a model for other cities to replicate, and its success is expected to have a lasting impact on the environment and the community.
