Two Teens Killed in Ghatkopar Road Accident

A road accident on the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road in Mumbai has claimed the lives of two teenagers. The accident took place at around 5:15 am on Sunday beneath the Jagruti Nagar Metro Station.

The deceased have been identified as 14-year-old Ganesh Sunil Mahamuni and 15-year-old Aryan Paswan. According to the police, an Eicher tempo was being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner when it rammed into the scooter from behind.

Ganesh, a Class IX student, was riding the scooter, while Aryan was seated as the pillion rider. The two teenagers were traveling towards Ghatkopar railway station when the accident occurred.

The police have registered a case and arrested the tempo driver, identified as Prem Prakash Baldevram, 34. The accused was traced with the help of CCTV footage from the accident spot and the registration number of the tempo.

According to the FIR, Ganesh had taken the scooter keys without his father's knowledge and left home with his friend Aryan. The family had purchased the Honda Activa scooter in June 2026 for personal use.

The accident occurred when the tempo struck the scooter from behind on the eastbound carriageway of the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road. Ganesh's father, Sunil, was informed about the accident by an unidentified person and later found his son's friend Aryan injured at the accident spot.

Ganesh was taken to Rajawadi Hospital by locals, where he was declared dead. Aryan was undergoing treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act against the tempo driver for allegedly driving rashly and negligently.
