Dog Rescued From River In Borivali

A dramatic rescue operation was carried out on Sunday in Mumbai's Borivali, where a stranded dog was rescued from a river near Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The incident came to light after a resident spotted the dog and alerted the police, who immediately sprang into action.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade and Kasturba Marg Police officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After a painstaking two-hour effort, the trapped dog was finally rescued without any harm or injuries. The successful rescue operation was a testament to the quick thinking and coordination between the fire brigade and the police.

In a similar incident, a deer was rescued a few days ago after it was hit by a passing vehicle on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway near PG City in Mahad. The injured deer was shifted to Pune for specialised veterinary treatment. According to forest officials, the deer had strayed away from its herd in the adjoining forest and wandered onto the highway, where it was struck by a vehicle.

The deer sustained abdominal injuries in the collision, but fortunately, a team from the Mahad Forest Department rushed to the spot and provided immediate first aid. The animal was later shifted to a specialised wildlife rescue facility in Pune for further treatment. A Mahad Forest Officer said that the barking deer would be released back into its natural habitat in the Mahad forest once it makes a full recovery.

The two rescue operations highlight the importance of prompt action and coordination between different agencies in saving lives, whether human or animal. The successful rescue of the dog and the deer is a heartening reminder of the compassion and dedication of the people involved in these operations.

The rescue operations also underscore the need for awareness and caution when dealing with wildlife, especially in areas where humans and animals coexist. As the city continues to expand, it is essential to ensure that the natural habitats of animals are protected and that measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

In the meantime, the rescued dog and deer will continue to receive the care and treatment they need, thanks to the efforts of the fire brigade, police, and forest officials. Their stories serve as a reminder of the importance of compassion, quick thinking, and coordination in saving lives and making a difference in the community.
